Premier League 2019-20 – Matchweek 3

Bournemouth 1-3 Manchester City

Two goals from Sergio Aguero and a Raheem Sterling strike eased Manchester City to a 3-1 win at Bournemouth.

Aguero opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a cool finish from inside the box before Raheem Sterling doubled City’s advantage two minutes before the break after being played in by David Silva.

Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Newcastle United

Newcastle got their first points under Steve Bruce as Joelinton’s first-half goal gave them a shock 1-0 victory at Tottenham on Super Sunday.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-1 Burnley

Raul Jimenez’s 97th-minute penalty rescued a dramatic point for Wolves in a 1-1 draw at home to Burnley.

Ashley Barnes thundered in a half-volley from 25 yards with 13 minutes on the clock at Molineux on Sunday, and his fourth goal of the season looked set to send Burnley third in the Premier League table.

Norwich City 2-3 Chelsea

Frank Lampard remains winless as Chelsea head coach after being held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s energetic start brought a goal as Wilfred Ndidi’s error allowed Mason Mount to tuck home his first goal for Chelsea (7), but Ndidi made up for it in the second half with a towering header from a James Maddison corner (67).

Brighton and Hove Albion 0-2 Southampton

Nathan Redmond and substitute Moussa Djenepo scored to seal Southampton a 2-0 win at 10-man Brighton, who had a goal ruled out through VAR for the second week running.

Manchester United 1-2 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace stunned Manchester United with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford thanks to Patrick van Aanholt’s injury-time winner.

Daniel James appeared to have earned United a point with an 89th-minute equaliser.

But David de Gea couldn’t keep out Van Aanholt’s drive as Palace claimed their first win of the new Premier League season.

Despite dominating possession, United rarely threatened Palace’s goal and the full-time whistle was greeted by a chorus of boos from those remaining inside Old Trafford.

Palace’s win was their first ever against United in the Premier League era.

Sheffield United 1-2 Leicester City

A superb Harvey Barnes strike sealed Leicester’s first Premier League win of the season, beating Sheffield United 2-1 at Bramall Lane.

Watford 1-3 West Ham United

Sebastien Haller’s first Premier League goals helped West Ham to a 3-1 win over Watford at Vicarage Road.

Liverpool-3 1 Arsenal

Liverpool maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season and moved three points clear at the top of the table with a 3-1 win over Arsenal at Anfield.

Joel Matip’s header late in the first half gave the home side the lead before Mohamed Salah took the game away from the Gunners with two goals early in the second period.

Salah converted from the spot after winning the penalty himself, then scored a fine solo goal to secure the points, although Arsenal substitute Lucas Torreira did pull one back late on.
