Newcastle United turned in a superb second half display to edge closer to Premier League survival at an empty St James’ Park.

With fans watching from home due to the virus pandemic, empty stands provided the backdrop for Steve Bruce’s side.

But it was the Magpies that adapted to the eerie atmosphere in better fashion and grabbed their first win of the restart to put them within swinging distance of safety.

Bruce’s side are now 11 points clear of the relegation zone and looking good for a third successive season in the Premier League since promotion in 2017.
