Arsenal continue to confound people with their Premiership showing this season; after last season many were asking if they could retain their top 4 status with Man City, Spurs and Villa all putting in serious challenges.
I must say I was unsure of how they would do this season, but I have always thought that it will be either Chel$ea or Man Utd’s title this year – and despite Arsenal being in such close contention, I cannot see them having the consistency and staying power necessary to take the title at this stage in their development.
Arshavin is outstanding however, and Wenger appears to have unearthed a gem in Vermaelen.
They play good football, and when they win, they usually look good for it – but they still can’t grind out the hard results, they still need grit with their grace.
Until they find it, they will not win the PL.
n.b. Is it the stress of not winning silverware for a while or simply advancing age that has turned Wenger into a cranky old man?
