Chelsea 3-0 Stoke City Highlights

Chelsea returned to the top of the Premier League with victory over Stoke after an inspiring performance by Mohamed Salah.

On his first Premier League start, the Egypt forward gave the hosts the lead when he swept in Nemanja Matic’s cut-back before the break.

The £11m signing was tripped by Andy Wilkinson for a penalty which Frank Lampard scored at a second attempt.

Willian curled in a third to open up a one-point lead over Liverpool.

Head-to-head

Stoke’s 3-2 victory in the reverse fixture ended their 14-match winless run (D3, L11) against Chelsea in the league.

The Potters have not won a league match at Stamford Bridge since a 1-0 victory on 27 April 1974. That is also the last season in which they won both league games against the Blues.

Stoke have lost their last seven league and cup games away to Chelsea, failing to score in the last six.

Chelsea

The Blues have won their last four Premier League home games, scoring 14 unanswered goals.

Jose Mourinho has yet to lose a league game at Stamford Bridge (60 wins, 16 draws).

Chelsea have claimed 44 points on home turf this season – the highest total in the Premier League.

They have gained 14 points from losing positions this term – only Stoke (15) have a better record.

Stoke City

The Potters are chasing a fourth consecutive Premier League win – a feat they last managed between November and December 2011, beating Blackburn, Everton, Tottenham and Wolves.

They have lost just one of nine league games (W5, D3, L1) since the start of February – that was a 1-0 defeat at Manchester City.

Peter Odemwingie has scored in three successive Premier League appearances for the first time since May 2011.

Mark Hughes’ side have already completed more passes this season than in any of their previous five Premier League campaigns.
