Everton 1-2 Swansea Highlights

Francesco Guidolin’s reign as Swansea head coach began with an impressive and much-needed victory at Everton.

The Italian – appointed on 18 January – oversaw an improved display, and the Swans led through Gylfi Sigurdsson’s penalty after a foul on Andre Ayew.

The hosts levelled when Gareth Barry’s near-post flick from a corner was touched into his own net by Jack Cork.

Ayew’s deflected strike won the game for Swansea, who are now four points above the relegation zone.

Swansea have never beaten Everton in the league, drawing eight and losing 13 of their 21 meetings.

The Swans have scored just four goals in nine Premier League games against Everton.

However, Everton have failed to score in three of the last four encounters in all competitions and suffered their first defeat against Swansea in a League Cup tie in Wales last season.

Roberto Martinez’s side have won just three of their last 13 league matches at Goodison Park (W3, D4, L6).

They have dropped 11 points from leading positions in the last nine Premier League games, six more than any other side.

Everton have scored with a league-high 19.5% of their shots so far in 2015-16.

Romelu Lukaku has scored 12 goals in his last 14 appearances for Everton.

Gareth Barry, 34, has run 261.6km in the Premier League this season, further than any other player except Bournemouth midfielder Andrew Surman (266.0km) prior to the weekend’s fixtures.

Swansea City

The Swans earned their first win in four league games on Monday night, and only their second in 12 attempts (D3, L7).

Swansea’s sole victory in their last 11 Premier League away matches came against bottom club Aston Villa in October (W1, D3, L7).

They have gone eight successive away matches without scoring a first-half goal, and only scored five times in total in those games.

Ashley Williams’ goal against Watford on Monday was the first by a Swansea defender in the league since he scored in March 2014 v Everton.
