Hull City 1-4 Newcastle Highlights

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew was sent off for head-butting Hull’s David Meyler as United claimed a comfortable victory.

Pardew clashed with Meyler after the City midfielder collided with him in an attempt to retrieve the ball to take a throw-in.

Earlier, Moussa Sissoko’s powerful finish and Loic Remy’s run on to Maynor Figueroa’s backpass put United ahead.

Curtis Davies’s header got Hull back in it, but Sissoko tapped in a rebound and Vurnon Anita did likewise to seal it.

Head-to-head

Newcastle have not won in five matches against Hull in all competitions. Their last victory came in a 2-0 win in the League Cup in 1997.

This will be their fourth meeting in the Premier League. Hull have won two and drawn one of the previous three.

Hull City

Hull have only won one of their last six league games at home – and they are without a victory in their last three.

They have only scored once in three league matches at the KC Stadium since their 6-0 victory over Fulham on 28 December.

Hull have accumulated the same amount of points (30) they achieved in the whole of the 2009-10 season, when they were relegated from the top flight.

Nikica Jelavic has scored three goals in his last three league games – prior to that run he had gone 21 Premier League games without a goal and scored just three in 43.

Steve Bruce’s new striker partnership of Jelavic and Shane Long have scored a combined five goals in as many games together for Hull (Jelavic 3, Long 2) since joining in the January transfer window.

Newcastle United

Newcastle have won their last seven matches when striker Loic Remy has scored and they have taken 39 points from the 22 matches he has played. Without Remy this season, they have taken one point from five matches.

They have failed to score in seven of their last nine Premier League games.

Of the eight matches they have been losing at half-time in the league this season, Newcastle have gone on to lose them all – the worst record in the division.

Alan Pardew’s side are looking for their 100th Premier League away win, having won 99 and lost 173 of the 378 they have played so far.
