They last clashed at second league level in 1994/95, when Bolton recorded two 1-0 victories.

This is only the third time they have been drawn to meet in the FA Cup. Bolton progressed on both previous occasions; 4-1 in a second round second replay in February 1915, and 3-1 in the third round in January 1955.
