Espanyol came from behind to snatch a valuable point after a 1-1 draw against in-form Real Betis in their first game under new coach

Achille Emana appeared to be guiding Paco Chapparo’s men to a sixth win in eight matches when he put the hosts ahead early in the second half but substitute Coro beat the offside trap to silence the crowd at the Estadio Manuel Luiz de Lopera with an unlikely equaliser on 71 minutes.

The result ends a run of four straight league defeats for the Catalan club and will inject some much-needed belief that they have what it takes to avoid becoming embroiled in a relegation battle this term.
